Calculating number of slices in a design

Jump to solution

Hi

I have written an algorithm and now I am analysing the resource utilization by my algo

As per the rule of thumb if there are 3 sub-modules then

sum of resources of each submodule is equal to the resources consumed by the algo

It stands true for LUT and FF but when I calculate slices they are more than the one stated in utilization summary

What is the reason for it

@uzmeed

The reason the slice counts don’t seem to add correctly is that separate submodules can share a slice.  For example, some of FF in a slice could be used by one submodule and other FF in the same slice can be used by another submodule.
