TX Phase Interpolator TXPIPPMSTEPSIZE Wrong Width

Jump to solution

Hello, I use GTH transceivers and particularly TX Phase Interpollator PPM Controller.

In the 7 Series FPGAs GTX/GTH Transceivers User Guide (UG476 v1.11), in page 154, it stated that the TXPIPPMSTEPSIZE[4:0] has width 5, with this diescription:

TXPIPPMSTEPSIZE[4]:

1'b1: Increments PI Code.

1'b0: Decrements PI Code.

TXPIPPMSTEPSIZE[3:0] is the

amount to increment or decrement PI

code. Its values range from 0 to 15.

However, in the Instantiation Templete that the gtwizard provides, the width of TXPIPPMSTEPSIZE is 1.

Clearly this bug makes the usage of the TX Phase Interpolator almost impossible (the amount of increment or
decrement of phase is completely arbitrary).

Could you please let me know if there is a solution to this problem?

hi @silentap

I tested this at my end.

In Vivado 2015.1, I see gt0_txpippmstepsize_in port width is 1.

In 2015.2 wrapper file, I see this port  gt0_txpippmstepsize_in  width as 5.

HI,

Yes,TXPIPPMSTEPSIZE width is 5.

This issue is alreday reported and fixed in Vivado 2015.2

I hope you might e using Vivado version 2015.1 or earlier.

You can give a try in generating the IP in 2015.2.
