Zynq 7030 decoupling cap

Jump to solution

Hi, i am designing a PCB with a zynq7030 (FBG676) on board, while drawing the decoupling capacitors for Z7030, i spotted the amount of small value decoupling capacitors (0.47u or lower) listed in document UG933 page 13, Table 3-1 in much less than Artix-7. Do I need to follow the conventional rules of Artix-7 by adding one 0402/0201 capacitor per power pin? Or is there a reason for the lack of small value decoupling capacitors in teh requirement. Thanks.

Yes, the reason being Z-7030 equivalent PL fabric is Kintex-7 and not Artix-7. Z-7020 and below are Artix-7 while Z-7030 and above are Kintex-7 PL fabric. Check Table -1 in DS190

So the device you mentioned follows the Kintex-7 decoupling guidelines and quantity match with the FBG676 package of Kintex-7 in Table 2-3 of UG483

So you can follow what is listed in UG933
