Dose PCIe DMA transfer have atomic unit?

Jump to solution

I am able to transfer data from FPGA to the host.

I got one question now. It's about when the memory got re-freshed?

I send data from FPGA to HOST memory address X and the same time there is an app reading the data 'Z' at memory address X. When 'Z' changed, then I known the FPGA write data at this address.

My question is how long of the data 'Z' is good. When 'Z' is 1 byte long, it's ok; but when 'Z' is 4 bytes long, is it possible the first 2 bytes updates and the other 2 bytes not, even if the FPGA write 4 bytes once?

Is there any information about this puzzle?

Thank you!
