DMA with PCIE

Jump to solution

Hi Everyone

I have a problem with how to use dma to transfer a burst of data from FPGA to host PC via PCIE. I am totally new to dma and I wonder should I use the AXI DMA IP provided by xilinx or write my own code of dma. Since I need send the data at  a very high speed, it shows pcie is a only choice for data transfer. I'm using ml605 evaluation kit, is it possible to  realize it?

I appreciate any reply from you. Many thanks.

Best regards,

Mike

I would start with the PIO example design and write your own engine around that.  It is not overly complicated.  This will necessitate you get a good understanding of PCIe, which you'll need when things go wrong (which they inevitably do) and debug is required.
