FIDEx, a new Assembler IDE for the PicoBlaze

Dear PicoBlaze user,

we have developed FIDEx, an intergrated assembler IDE for soft-core processors.

FIDEx supports the PicoBlaze family in addition to further soft-core processors and runs on Windows, Linux and (Mac).

It enables the development of assembler code with features that are otherwise available in high-level languages toolchains only. Especially larger programs take advantage of these features and can be developed much faster.

The aim of the development was and is to develop a maximum-performance tool which is still simple and intuitive to use.

For a rapid and optimized software development Fidex provides the following components:

  • Projectmanager for combining project dependent configuration settings, source files and handling pathes relative to the project location.
  • Code editor for writing assembler code and inserting templates
  • Source navigator for developing and handling of larger programs
  • Multi-Pass-Assembler for giving maximum freedom structuring your sources
  • Simulator/Debugger for simulating the written assembler code step by step before simulating in a vhdl/verilog simulator or trial and error in hardware
  • Detailed Online Manual for having faster access to the processors properties and assembler instruction mnemonic and documentation
  • Message viewer for getting fast help on warnings and errors - the messages contains clickable links refering to the online help

You are welcome to try and use FIDEx. It is available on www.fautronix.com/fidex

Best regards,

Christoph
