How to access the RTC from PL in Zynq ultrascale+MPSoC

Jump to solution

Hi all,

Is there a way to access the current time in the RTC through PL in zynq ultrascale+MPSoC  ?

I read the zynq ultrascale+MPSoC technical reference manual, and i am sure that we can access it through PS, without using the PS how do i access the RTC ?

Any suggestions ?

Hi @praveen_mulimani,

There is option of enabling irq for RTC alarm and seconds which can be used in PL.

But we do have only testcases for PS accessible RTC under https://github.com/Xilinx/embeddedsw/tree/master/XilinxProcessorIPLib/drivers/rtcpsu/examples .

You may want to have a look at it and read appropriate register while run.

The register details of RTC module is available in UG1087.

Regards

Praveen

Hi pvenugo,

Thank you for the reply.

You mean to say that we can use this interrupt (Alaram/Second) in our design to keep the track of the time . like for example if i initialize my time_register now and next time when i get this interrupt i need to increment this value by 1.

Hi pvenugo,

As you replied that you do have testcases for PS accessible RTC , but we are working on a project which doesn't use the PS at all. In that case the Alarm/second interrupt from the RTC to PL need to enabled right ? And can i enable this without PS ?
