Is it not possible to run linux on a cortex-r5 processor?

Jump to solution

Our system uses the zynqmp zu3cg chip. According to the previous assumption, we hope to use the vxworks operating system on the A53. Due to the sata driver problem, we must use linux on R5 for sata or freeratos supporting sata on R5. However, I did not find how to generate an R5 object file in petalinux. Is this not allowed? If Linux is not feasible on R5, does freertos support sata driver?

Thx for help!

Cortex-r5 is a real-time processor unit, it can only run Bare-metal, FreeRTOS and other commercially available RTOS.
Cortex-r5 doesn’t have a MMU to run Linux.

How about the SATA driver for freertos or other Bare-metal?

There is no SATA standalone driver.
