Need of external battery for Xilinx Zynq-7020 to use BBRAM

Jump to solution

I'm using the Xilinx Zynq-7020 board to program the BBRAM. I want to know if BBRAM needs an external battery for this board ? Also does external power through USB UART serve the purpose to retain memory on BBRAM? Please let me know. Thanks.

What is the board number?

The BBRAM for the key is powered by Vccaux while the device is powered, and by Vbatt otherwise.

The board is Xilinx Zturn with part number MYS-7Z020-C-S . Below is the link for the board.

Basically we want the key to be retained when we do a power cycle reset. So we want to know if external battery is needed for this purpose. Thanks.

Not built by Xilinx.

I have no idea what they do.

Ask them.

Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate it. I want a little more clarity generally on Xilinx devices, does Vccaux  get powered down anytime during the Boot up process?

Thanks.

The BBRAM requires some sort of power source to keep its data. The Z-Turn doesn't include a battery, so if you're intending to remove all the other power supplies (doing a power cycle) then you will need to provide a battery.
