Timer Overhead on Zynq Baremetal

Hi,

I'm running a baremetal application which uses the ARM global timer on Zynq 706. When run with a custom IP and zynq connected, I get a timer overhead of 50 cycles and while I run MIG and zynq connected, I get a timer overhead of 300 cycles. Since the timer overhead (time to just start and stop the timer) has nothing to do with FPGA hardware why is there a variation in the overhead?  Please advise. Thanks.

I'm using Vivado and SDK 2015.2.

where is your code located??

if in MIG RAM it is slower

The problem was solved after a change to the linker script.
