XSDB, XSCT and MDM

Jump to solution

Hi all,

To use XSDB or XSCT to debug microblaze, is it required to use MDM in hardware design?

If the answer is yes, is it required to enable UART control in MDM?

Can anybody please explain ?

yes, MDM enables Jtag based debugging. XSDB is used to debug MicroBlaze via JTAG. Uart control is just an optional feature which is not required.

@ritakur ,
I have one more clarification needed. Could you please help?
to display xil_printf output from microblaze, Is it possible with MDM and JTAG?. My board doesnot have UART pins. Only JTAG pins available to external world.

How I can do this?

xil_printf uses UART if you don't have it on your board, you can use JTAG UART.
