connecting PROG_B to internal WDOG

Jump to solution
Is it possible to connect the WDT_reset output to the Spartan 3E PROG_B function in order to initiate a reconfiguration process if the WDOG expires?

f31,

Spartan 3A supports ICAP (internal configuration access port) which allows you to trigger a reconfigure from inside the device reliably.

The problem with "reaching out, and pulling PROG_b" is that as soon as you pull PROG_b low, the IO all go tristate (so you are not pulling anything low any longer).

The idea of starting your own reprogram, requires some kind of way to guarantee that you can always cause the PROG_b to transistion low long enough to be recognized properly.

(A very long way of saying that we don't recommend doing this simply by tying an output to PROG_b)
