problem with using uart through emio

Jump to solution

I am using Zedboard now.

I have configured two uart in vivado. The uart 0 was routed through emio, and connected to PMOD

The uart 1 was routed to MIO48/49 as the default configuration.

In the SDK, I can print 'Hello world!" using uart1.

There is no any output on the serial console, when I run the 'Hello world' application via uart 0. I have changed the BSP settings to set the std in/out as 'ps_uart0'.

Could anyone help me ?

Thanks!

Hi @mage,

I am not able to understand what exactly your Question about? is the problem with the UART1 or UART0?

in one statement you mentioned that you can print 'hello world' using uart1. but in next statement you are saying 'There is no any output on the serial console'.

as per the subject I assumes that you are able to run the "Hello world" from uart1 (MIO48,49) but when you change the default BSP settings to uart0 (EMIO) by setting std in/out as 'ps_uart0', you are not seeing any thing on the console? am I right?

In case if I am right, are you verified your TX and RX signals on the PMOD device? As per my knowledge the TX and RX signals on PMOD are TTL Signals and you need to convert them to RS232 signals.

Best Regards,
Srikanth

Thanks for your reply! You are right, I have made an mistake in my fomer statement.

I know the PMOD is LVCMOS 33, so I use a USB-TTL serail cable.
