vivado DMA IP's max data packet size is 1GB??

Jump to solution

In the pdf file ug1085,page 520:

The DMA implements independent SRC and DST descriptors that can transfer any size payload (up to 1 GB).

But,in the pdf file pg021,page 37:

S2MM_LENGTH Register,the maximum width is 26 bits------>2^26-1=67108863Bytes<1GB

Now the problem is:How can I transmit 1GB of data at a time through s2mm DMA mode?

UG 1085 is the Zynq TRM and the DMA chapter there refers to the PS (Processing System) DMA.

PG021 refers to the Logicore AXI DMA IP core, that is a different thing, although they are for the same purpose.

Hope that clears your doubts.

Thank you very much...Then:

The result is that 1GB packet transmission cannot be realized with the DMA IP core at the PL end, right?(through HP interface)

Exactly, not with the IP. 26 bits cannot address 1G. Whatever the interface (HP, etc)

If UG 1085 mentions 1 GB then I believe it's possible
