DDR2 Memory controller on Avnet V5FXT generates PAR error

Jump to solution

Hello,

I am using an Avnet V5FXT Evaluation Board and Xilinx EDK 13.2 on a Ubuntu 32-bit machine.

When I create a new project with BSB wizard and use no DDR2 memory, I can perfectly synthesize the project, generate a bitterest and download it to the board, along with some software that accesses some of the board I/O features.

However, I want to write some bigger code. Thus, I need a bigger memory.

When I generate a new BSB project that uses the DDR2 memory controller, I receive the following PAR error:

ERROR:Xflow - Program par returned error code 139. Aborting flow execution...

There is a known issue with this board and the controller. For some unknown reason, the version 3.00.c doesn't work properly on the board, so I used the version 3.00.b, which should work fine, according to the annexed document.

However, I still get the same message.

Does somebody that used this board know how to fix it?

Thanks in advance,

Problem solved. I installed ISE on Windows and everything went perfect.

It's probably some issue with Ubuntu, but I have not figured out why it happens.

I'll try to synthesize my project on OpenSUSE. Since it's a supported Linux distro, it should work.
