How to reduce the MPSoC CPU power consumption?

Hi,

I have one idea of reducing the PS power consumption by configuring the PLL dynamically. So when the CPU is idle, switch to a lower frequency; when enter to working state, switch to a higher fre.

Following the AR 71070 to configure the CPU PLL. However, when the frequency is switched from 1.3GHz to 300MHz, the power keeps the same. I'm confused. So could you explain why or recommend a better method?

Thanks,

Chunjie

Re: How to reduce the MPSoC CPU power consumption?

1. Turn it off.

Well, that's probably too much...

I've got the same problem. There are three ways (I know so far):

2. Reduce frequency. This is done in Vivado, in the Zynq configuration, clocks tab, set a lower value.

3. Reset the cores you are not using. That's what I'm interested in, but I haven't found how to do that, neither I had time to research on. I'm only saying it's possible.

4. Sleep the cores instead of idling at high frequency. The APU does that, not so sure about the RPU.
