JTAG as UART

I have a Custom board which does not contain RS232 Port in it. So I'm trying to configure JTAG as UART. Can anyone tell me what how to configure it and how to run the Kernel console after the Image in downloaded.

Re: JTAG as UART

Hi,

First you need to enable the uart for the mdm in the .mhs file.

Secondly you need to set stdin and stdout to use the mdm peripheral, this will redirect C programs stdin and stdout to the MDM.

Thirdly, you need to run "uart_start" in XMD to view to outputs.

This will work for standalone applications.

Since you talk about "kernel console", if you are planning to use linux I doubt that it have device drivers for the UART in the mdm.

Re: JTAG as UART

Hi Kramu,

I met the same problem of running Linux on a custom board without RS232 port. Did you successfully run Linux on your custom board?
