MicroBlaze XPS Watchdog Usage

I have  an XPS Timebase Watchdog Timer (V1.021) as part of my MicroBlaze design.  I'm using Xilkernel.  The watchdog appears to be correctly configured.  I have a thread running that XWdtTb_IsWdtExpired.  After about 8 seconds (which is the correct timeout), XWdtTb_IsWdtExpired returns that the watchdog has indeed expired.  I'm not resetting it, so my assumption was that in another 8 seconds the WDT_Reset would occur.  I have WDT_Reset connected to the MicroBlaze reset and again I assumed that this would cause the MicroBlaze to reset.  That apparently is not happening.  Am I missing something here.  Is there something you need to do to watchdog in order to reset the processor?

Thanks,

bb
