Zynq 702 board no power after connecting to FMC IO board

Jump to solution

Dear all:

I am using zynq 702 board to develop a control system.

This base board has to connect to a IO function block board through FMC connector.

In my design I am using the FMC2 ( J4 ).

Before I connected the function board to base board, the base board works fine.

It can initialize and successfully configure from QSPI flash and send out confirmation message through uart1.

But if I connected the function board, without applying any voltage to the function board, only 12V to the base board,

the base board doesn't have any response unless the DS14 lights up, which indicates the 12V supply ok.

The TI PWRGOOD LED (DS13) no light, and there is no 3.3V output to the FMC connector.

The two 12V pin ( C35 and C37 in FMC)  has normal 12V voltage.

I tried to figure it out but seems no luck so far.

Could any one please give me some hint how to solve this problem?

Also I saw in the user guide UG850 about the Jtag chain FMC bypass.

It says after connecting FMC board, the FMC will automatically added to the jtag chain

I didn't need to use Jtag to configure the FMC connected function board.

How can I disable this automation process?

Do I just need to pull up the signal FMC2_LPC_PRSNT_M2C_B to high by some flyleads or by cutting some related connection?

Or I have to change this signal from the I2C bus?

Thanks.

Re: Zynq 702 board no power after connecting to FMC IO board

Problem solved:

The design of the FMC module has some incompatibility with the zynq 702 board.

One 3.3V in the module connected to a ground pin in the zynq board.

Everything looks fine after remove the incompatible pin.

Some more info:

If I connected the TI adapter to the power controller interface J59 and checked with the TI GUI fusion power designer,

it shows that all the 3 power controllers U32, U33, U34 works normally.

But the TI PWRGOOD LED not lit and no 3.3V to FMC.
