Zynq 702 processor speed ?

Jump to solution

Good morning,

I had a question about the processors on board. I have been looking through the guide and it seems to have The PS integrates two ARM® Cortex™-A9 MPCore at 33.333MHz?  would that be accurate to say what it is running at ?

Second question would be, does that mean you can only use 2 processing systems in your application maximum ?  Thanks a lot

I don't have a clue how the CPU Clock Ratio setting is to be interpreted, but below that it clearly states:

CPU Actual Frequency (MHz) 666.666687

The 33.33 MHz is a clock reference input, which is multiplied by a PLL to a higher speed CPU clock, typically 600 to 800 MHz, depending on the speed grade.    And each of the 2 CPU's is single threaded, so you basically get 2 threads of execution for Linux or other application software.

Thanks a lot,

where would i be able to see the processing speed if it is multiplied ? and if you can have two threads for the application, does this have to be added into the design ? I am assuming so ? Thanks a lot

The clock is set on the Zynq using the Zynq Clock Wizard

Clock wizard works in vivado tools as well ?  I went into IP config properties in vivado, left a picture there, but i am assuming the clock is set at 50 MHz due to the ratio

If you need more processors you can add soft processors in the PL but I wouldn't try to make, for example, a quad core with the PS plus 2 soft cores.

Thanks a lot

it was actually just more validate that was the processor speed, its for research that im doing and i wanted to make sure i had the right speed for the processor  and where to look for its actually value.
