hi @ash_dudeja

I don't know details about VDMA.

From Aurora point of view, the SOF information must be in tx_tdata and rx_tdata in the design of xapp1216.

If you don't use VDMA, you need to identify the SOF pattern from rx_tdata to determine the start of a frame.

Thanks,

Boris

Hi borisq,

Exactly !

This is the question i am wondering . I thought there has to be a standard way to do this . If i have to derive a way to send SOF on tdata, why not go for standard protcols like Vbyone ?

Isn't it that in the example of VDMA/C2C/Aurora also the EOL/SOF information is sent over the channel [ finally we need SOF at the rx side ] ? How is this done in this case ?

Thanks.

OK.

Aurora has its own packatezation and overheads padding , idles, scps etc.

Is there a chance that we loose video frames because of this ?

Thanks

hi @ash_dudeja

it should not be a problem.

from tx side, when overheads are sending and aurora is not accepting user data, the tready should be low to halt the user data.

from rx side, the overheads are not presented to the axi interface by de-assert tvalid.

Thanks,

Boris

Thanks.

And how much worst case delay we get between Aurora channel to channel ?

In the given case i feed same information to two Aurora channels at same time . Will they show different content at a time ?

hi @ash_dudeja

i think the hardware latency mismatch between the two in the ppt is not a big deal.

there should be some mismatch, but not big.

for Aurora IP latency, you can refer to PG074 Table 2-1.

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/ip_documentation/aurora_64b66b/v12_0/pg074-aurora-64b66b.pdf

Thanks,

Boris
