Hi,

Can anyone suggest me the best external clock source for GT_DIFF_REFCLK in aurora IP?

Re: External Clock source

Hi
1) you can Use Si5324 to drive
MGT REF CLK
or
2) Use function waveform Generator if you have such device
3) easiest way is generating differential clock inside FPGA and send that to SMA user clk and connect with SMA cable to MGT REF CLK.

Re: External Clock source

MGT ref clocks need to be very quiet, The spec on the MGT clock input is very strict.

For instance , you can not drive MGT clock from a register on a device as a register output has way to much phase noise,

Look at the ref designs from xilinx et all for examples of devices that have been proven to work,

Also , be very careful on the layout of the clock circuit on the board,
this is a good guide
