Would anyone have suggestions on how to receive (transmit) multiple data protocols over fiber (via SFP module)?
For example, in the initial design, we were going to transmit Gigabit Ethernet via a normal 1000Base-T interface (ie. RJ45) and HD-SDI video over fiber (ie. SFP module). In this architecture, we were going to use a tri-mode Ethernet Mac soft-core and the Triple-rate SDI core for their respective output interfaces.
However, now, we may want to merge both of those interfaces into one output (fiber via SFP)? Is there a way to multiplex these two interfaces? Is there a way to somehow take the output of the MAC core and the SDI core and merge them together to be output to the SFP module?

you could merge your many protocols in the FPGA fabric directly, and then transmit/receive over one single HSSIO channel + optic. I think Ethernet for short lengths, or OTN for long lengths are already employed for these kind of aggregation.
