question about ibert?

hi, everyone

In the product guide of ibert, the IBERT core is designed for PMA evaluation and demonstration.

and Some of the Physical Coding Sublayer (PCS) features offered by the transceiver are outside the scope of IBERT, including:

. Clock Correction

. Channel Bonding

. 8B/10B, 64B/66B, or 64B/67B encoding

.TX or RX Buffer Bypass

So what I want to ask is whether ibert encodes data during transmission (e.g. prbs31), and if so what is the encoding method?

If not, how to keep the serial line DC balanced?

PRBS code is random code, so it is DC balanced already in long term view.

the 0 and 1 propability is equal.

hi @avcon_lee

 

yes, you are right.  you can select the pattern, for e.g., PRBS31, PRBS7, ..., in IBERT GUI after you download it to FPGA.

It is not using the encoder or decode inside GT, but in FPGA fabric.

When PRBS 31 is transmitted, consecutive 1 or 0 will appear on the data line,how does it keep the serial line DC balanced?
