time estimation of IBERT scan

The consumed time of an IBERT scan highly depends on it's parameters. Of course the most "dangerous" parameter is the "Dwell BER".

I interested in teh time estimation of a scan in a particular parameter set. How can I calculate a "worst-case" time from the scan parameters?

I think the following parameters affects the time:

  • Horizontal/Vertical inrement
  • Horizontal/Vertical range
  • Dwell type
  • Dwell BERT/time parameter
  • Line bitrate (compile time parameter)
  • Scan type (eye or bathtub)

But how to combine these values to get time?

Re: time estimation of IBERT scan

Hi @betontalpfa

We do not have a predefined formula for calculating how much time elapsed during a scan. The parameters you mentioned do all have effect on the "scan time", but we can't calculate the exact amount. May I know your usage intention for this scan time?

In the IBERT link tab, you can see the number of received bits since the last IBERT reset, so you can estimate how much time has elapsed.
