small FPGA with rocket IO

Hi,

We are looking for a small FPGA with rocket IO which supports 5Gbps. We see virtex 5, 6, an 7 all have giga bit transcevier that will do the job, but they are all big FPGA. Our goal is to convert parallel data to serial data and send it through a giga bit channel, so we don't have that much logic. Is there any smaller FPGA that will do the job?

Thanks

Re: small FPGA with rocket IO

How about the Artix? The smallest one with 5.0/6.6 Gb/s transceivers comes in a 100 pin package. Can you wait a little while until they exist?

Otherwise, can you use a Spartan-6 with multiple GTPs in parallel?

Re: small FPGA with rocket IO

Why doesn't the Virtex-6 LX75T in the FF484 package meet your needs?

Re: small FPGA with rocket IO

Virtex-6 LX75T looks good enough. I didn't realize Virtex 6 series offers low pin count parts. Thanks for the help.

*SNORT*  So 484 pins is considered 'low pin count' now?  When did this happen?
