ERROR:Simulator:861 - Failed to link the design (ubuntu 12.04)

Hi,

i know ubuntu is not supported by xilinx, but i was wondering if annyone new the solution for the following problem.

Started : "Simulate Behavioral Model".

Running fuse...
Command Line: fuse -intstyle ise -incremental -lib secureip -o /home/matthias/Documents/EAICT20122013/Thesis/xilinx/xtm640/xtm640.prj/xtm640_tb_isim_beh.exe -prj /home/matthias/Documents/EAICT20122013/Thesis/xilinx/xtm640/xtm640.prj/xtm640_tb_beh.prj work.xtm640_tb {}

ERROR:Simulator:861 - Failed to link the design
Process "Simulate Behavioral Model" failed

Previous problems with xilinx i could solve by linking the right libraries. But here i don't get a lot of erros, just ERROR:Simulator:861 - Failed to link the design!

Can someone point me in the right direction, or knows the solution?

Ty

Re: ERROR:Simulator:861 - Failed to link the design (ubuntu 12.04)

I'm using version 14.5 and have the same problem. from what I read before about this problem, if you are using windows 8, it might  not support it.

Re: ERROR:Simulator:861 - Failed to link the design (ubuntu 12.04)

The first thing to do with this situation is to add "-mt off -v" to the "Other Compiler Options"  line in "Process Properties"  for the simulator. (Check that the "display level" is set to "advanced" if you can't find it)

This will give you better information about what went wrong.

In my case, the linker reported

/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.7/libgcc.a when searching for -lgcc
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgcc

because Webpack insists on being 32-bit even on a 64-bit system, and I didn't have the 32-bit version of libgcc available.

On Debian (Wheeze or Testing) the solution was to add the missing libraries (there were others!)

sudo apt-get -t testing install ia32-libs
sudo apt-get -t testing install gcc-multilib
worked for me, and Ubuntu will be similar.

Whether they are correct for you will depend on your system and the actual linker error : if it is different, post it here...
