ISE 10.1 Test Bench waveforms - Asserting buses to "00"

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I'm using ISE 10.1's test bench waveforms to do some initial testing of a module.

I have a 2 bit width bus that i want to change from "00" to "01" and back to "00"

I seem to be able to change the bus to any value except "00" just by clicking on the location and changing it!!

Any ideas as to why this is the case??

Btw, i heard that the TBW is going to be obsolete soon. Thats really a shame since i quite like it, if only it worked a little better =P

Thanks,

Daniel

Thanks edv,

I've recently realised that if i expand the bus to individual signals, i can modify each one to get the result i want, though this would be troublesome if the bus was large.

Thanks for your help and hope that the Waveform Editor stays ^_^

Re: ISE 10.1 Test Bench waveforms - Asserting buses to "00"

Hello Daniel,

We apologize for the inconvenience.  This is indeed an issue with the Testbench Waveform Editor.  The current workaround is to either:

a) Convert your testbench waveform to HDL and make the bus value change in code

b) Use the pattern wizard to create the particular bus pattern of choice.

Using b), in your situation, you can use the pattern wizard to first count up from 00 to 01, and then count down from 01 to 00.

In regards to the decision on deprecating this feature in future ISE releases, refer to this thread.  Feel free to add a response to this thread if you feedback on the subject.

Hope this helps.

Eddie
