SystemVerilog UVM Support

Hello, I'm interested in learning SystemVerilog UVM and was wondering if the latest version of Vivado supports it and if anyone know of some good references on UVM for beginners?

Hi @joe306,

UVM is not supported in the current Vivado release, it is in the roadmap of Xilinx and it is expected to be supported in future versions of VIvado.

Given recent posts, I think UVM support in vivado is still some way away:

Although I cant give you any more help on UVM than a simple google search, having had experience with it you'll need:

1. A very good knowledge of SV

2. A good mentor

3. Plenty of time.

I found UVM generally adds layers of complexity. Where Ive worked, we've had a dedicated verification team that did UVM. The designers really struggled to follow the testbenches. So in some ways it keeps the verification team in work.

It is overkill for most unit tests. It comes into its own for larger or more complex blocks (made up of multiple sub-blocks).
