Unable to change to directory path "secureip".

Jump to solution
hi all,
I'm using ISE10.1 and Modelsim XE III/Starter 6.3c. In my code, I've generated a Single port RAM using core generation. I've written test bench for the same. However
1) while behavioral simulation is chosen , Modelsim does nothing.
2) But ahen I select the Post Place Route simulation, Modelsim opens and below warning appears.

# ** Error: (vsim-23) Unable to change to directory path "secureip".
# No such file or directory. (errno = ENOENT)
# Loading work.sp_ram
# ** Error: (vsim-23) Unable to change to directory path "secureip".
# No such file or directory. (errno = ENOENT)
# ** Error: (vsim-3033) sp_ram.v(100): Instantiation of 'BLKMEMSP_V6_2' failed. The design unit was not found.
# Region: /mag_strp_tf/uut/u
# Searched libraries:
# C:\Modeltech_xe_starter\xilinx\verilog\simprims_ver
# ** Error: (vsim-23) Unable to change to directory path "secureip".
# No such file or directory. (errno = ENOENT)

What could be the reason and how to resolve it?

In advance thank you all for replying.

Things to try:

1) Run Clean up Project files, from the Project menu

2) Consider rebuilding the ISE project as the project may be in a corrupted state

Hope this helps.

Hello,

There are multiple issues going on in your simulation run:

1) The design loaded is looking the secureIP libraries.  These libraries are not supported by ModelSim XE 6.3c.

2) The Post-Place and Route Simulation flow should not be parsing through your RTL.  Instead, it should be picking up the Netgen-generated timing simulation model.

So the question is, which type of simulation are you most interested in performing?  We can then give you some hints and tips to resolve the issues for that particular simulation flow.

Hi,

Thank you for ur prompt reply.

I'm interested in the post place and route simulation.

Pl. let me know how to overcome this problem.

Thank you.

Ok.

Are you attempting to simulate a design that contains Hard IP such as the Ethernet MAC, Rocket IO (GT/GTP/GTX), PCI Endpoint ?  ISE builds simulation scripts pointing to the SecureIP libraries in order to simulate these cores.  However ModelSim XE does not provide support for these Hard IPs.

If your design includes Hard IP such as the ones listed above, consider using ISE Simulator instead.   The ISE Simulator supports Hard IP libraries.

Let me know if you have a different design situation.

No, I'm not using any hard macro. All moduels are written in Verilog and only SPRAM is generated using IPCore wizard.

However, in ur reply to Sumitha_m's  IP Core related issue; u pointed to close the project and re-open it.

Surprisingly, the same work for this too. Now I can see the Post place and route simulation results. But no other kind of simulation works.

In other cases it gives the same "secureip" error.

How do I resolve it? Pl. suggest some way out.

I'm interested to learn what the behavioral simulation script looks like when launching a behavioral simulation for ISE.  We can manually edit this file and then launch the simulation using it via command line.

Do these steps:

1) Launch a behavioral simulation by double-clicking on Simulate Behavioral Model.  I assume you'll encounter the errors again.

2) Close the simulator.  Browse to your ISE Project Directory, sort the files by file type.

3) Look for a file named <testbench entity name>_beh.fdo.  This is the DO file which ModelSim uses to launch the simulation.

Can you either copy the contents of the file in a thread reply, or attach the file?

Thanks.

hum... that's possible when it runs. As I wrote in my first mail...By double clicking behavioral simulation nothing happens. The blu dot appears for a while and disappears. It's neither creating any 'fdo' file nor launching Modelsim. So wot to do?
