Unable to simulate Logic Simulation Tutorial

Jump to solution

I'm following the Logic Simulation Tutorial from DocNav and using Vivado 2017.3. I have no trouble until I attempt to run the behavioral simulation. At that point I get the error code:

[VRFC 10-664] expression has 20 elements ; expected 24 ["File Path/Vivado Tutorial Files/ug937-design-files/sources/sinegen.vhd":52]

Upon opening the file everything looks as it should, and there should be no expectation of 24 elements according to the Logic Simulation Tutorial parameters.

Hi @jvogesnw,

Please check this thread to see if it useful.

This happens when there is a mismatch in declaration.

@prathikm,

Thanks for your reply, I had multiple mismatched values that all needed a different declaration value. This was all generated by Vivado, should it be reported as a bug?

Hi @jvogesnw,

Thanks for the update. Which lab/step were you working on in this tutorial?

Will be interesting to try this at our end once.

I was on Step 3, the 5th instruction. Everything was done according to the tutorial, and I performed it with the KC105 and then the KCU705. Both had the same issue.

Okay. Let me check running those at our end once.

I will update this thread.

Best Regards,

Hi @jvogesnw

I didn't see any issues while running Logic Simulation Tutorial on Linux redhat machine using 2017.3. I have tried both the boards that you have mentioned in the thread.

Can you please try once again following the steps in Tutorial.

Thanks,

Sunilkumar

@sunilku,

I performed the tutorial five times on Windows 10 2017.3 and had the same errors each time. If I edit the file then the simulation runs correctly each time. Thanks for trying it on Linux Redhat, perhaps this is an issue with my individual download, or the windows installer.
