feature request : in the simulator, make xvhdl.log and elaborate.log clickable in the messages window

Jump to solution

Something really simple is annoying me since a long time : during development of a testbench, I often need to look into the xvhdl.log or elaborate.log files to read why simulation fails

these files are buried away deeply in the project structure (.sim/sim_1/behav/xsim/xvhdl.log), so a clickable link, like the .vhd file in the screenshot below would already help a lot :

it would even be better if the messages window would just display the actual error from the xvhdl.log or elaborate.log file, but a clickable link would be a first good step.

I'll submit an enhancement request.

The detailed error messages can also be viewed from Tcl console. But indeed, it's not easy to quickly identify them.
