Converting slices, LUTs, etc to number of gates or logic cells

I have a project using a spartan 3 1800ADSP.

I want to take a component of that project and use in another. The new project will not need this large of an FPGA, so I want to spec, in a smaller one, Im leaning towards the 400 or 700.

The component I want to have common in both projects has the following (approx):

slices :          1900

slice reg :      2100

LUTs :           2300

LUTRam :     26

MAPBRAM :  7

Is there a way to convert these values into something that I can relate with the Datasheets to determine what is an appropriate FPGA.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The quick answer is forget the "gate count" and go right to the top of the S3A family datasheet

and look at the "slices" and "Block RAM bits" columns to get the numbers you need.  Both

gate count and "Equivalent Logic Cells" are (nearly) meaningless marketing numbers.
