Problem using fx2 connector

HI!

    I am doing my project on spartan 3-e fpga starter kit board.My problem is that I am not finding the way to convert my 5v input to 3.3V of the board.I am giving my inputs through hirose-100 pin fx2 connector.Do i have to use a level shifter?? Plz help me out........

Hi,

isn't there a 5V tolerant input mode for S3E devices?

If so, you can add this to the UCF file and you're done.

 

Otherwise, what 5V sources do you have CMOS or TTL?

For CMOS, a simple resistor voltage divider would be sufficient.

 

For TTL, due to the wide Voh range, I would recommend something like  74HCT245, as a level converter. 

Be aware, that these devices become quite slow, when powered with lower Vcc. See the Datasheets for details.
