SGMII and PCIe sharing the same GTP dual tile in Spartan 6

Jump to solution

Dear All,

I have generated the SGMII block and the PCIe block for the Spartan 6

These work fine in simulation and can successfully placed and routed on a xc6lx45T

with one of the GTP block in each of the 2 dual tiles.

I would like to place both blocks in the same dual tile so this I can use the second dual tile

for some other non standard interfaces.

Can anybody point me at an example which does this, or am I required to generate a combined

SGMII block and PCIe block which uses the same GTP dual tile block?

Dave

Thanks,

I had come to the same realization and also put in a WEBCASE, but no reply yet.

I also downloaded UG353 to look at the interface but did not look at the  implementation chapters.

Thanks again

Dave

Web case support pointed me to UG353. It's a starting point. Basically you have to bring out the GTP ports up to the top level (a real PITA) and instaniante your own GTP-wrapper, which merges the two wrappers provided by the cores. It takes a lot handcrafting, but I got it to par after a day. No physical tests, though.
