This might be a simple question, but I couldn't find an answer by googling it.
Can I connect an external transceiver to a Xilinx transceiver?
Why would I do that? I want to be able to send data over coaxial cable which a Xilinx transceiver cannot do. This special transceiver receives the differential data and outputs it on a single line.
On the receive side, it receives the data on a single line, and splits it up to two differential lines.
Xilinx transceivers have 8b/10b encoding & decoding, comma detect & byte align, gearbox etc. Therefore I was wondering if one could use both of these transceivers?
Any insight is appreciated.
