Does a singal DDR chip used in both Microblaze and MIG

Hi all,

I'm using Spartan 6 LX150T development board and there is one 128Mb DDR3 SDRAM on board. And in our system, this DDR was used by Microblaze only for 64k bits. So can I use the rest part of the DDR as a fifo or memory to realize other functions?

Thanks in advance.

You can certainly connect the Microblaze to the MIG via an AXI4 Interconnect, which will then allow you to connect lots of other AXI4 devices to the MIG as well.

With that said, if the Microblaze is only using 64Kbit of RAM, why not just use block RAM for that? It'll be faster than the off-chip DDR, and the LX150T has almost 5000Kbit of block RAM available.
