How to solve the unsupported RAM template error

I'm using Spartan xc3s250e and got this synthesis error:

ERROR:Xst:1443 - Unsupported RAM template for signal <signal_array>.

I couldn't find detailed information about this error.

The array is defined as

reg [9:0] signal_array [1462:0];

It is a large array, but there should be sufficient space for it. I tried block RAM with larger size and there's no eeror. But due to the delay requirment, I prefer not to use block RAM.

Showing the rest of your code will help.
