2017.2 Synthesis Crash - srcscanner issue

I'm currently trying to implement a DDR4 MIG into my design.

I am having issues with vivado crashing during synthesis due to "ERROR: [filemgmt 56-285] srcscanner execution failed with return code 11" right before the merged BMM file is generated for the design top.

This only happens when I include the MIG in my design.

Maybe this has to do with the calibration portion of the MIG which utilizes a microblaze? OS compatibility issue?

I'm running on CentOS 6.5 with the 2.6.32-642.6.2.el6.x86_64 kernel.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Nick K.

Hi @nkerkorian

Can you try with supported OS for 2017.2 and let us know if you see same issue? Refer the below link, page 8

Hi Rohit,

I've upgraded my CentOs to the following version:

centos-release-7-3.1611.el7.centos.x86_64

Kernel: 3.10.0-514.2.2.el7.x86_64

I'm still seeing the same issue with the MIG causing the following error:

"ERROR: [filemgmt 56-285] srcscanner execution failed with return code 11."

Is there anything else that could cause this issue?

Thank you,

Nick K.

@pengbo_zheng.

Try using Vivado 2017.3. If this doesnt help then please create a new topic for this error.

Hello @mangochenxilinx,

This seems like a HSV 2.0 related issue. HSV uses shared memory to communicate between vivado and srcscanner processes. It looks like there might be some permission issues to create shared memory for the non-root account.

As such, can you please try the following.

Execute Windows command shell (cmd.exe) with “Run as Administrator” (raising permission to “full admin / root permissions”);
In that Windows command shell: change directory to your Vivado installation (e.g. C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2017.3);
In that Windows command shell: Execute setings64.bat;
In that Windows command shell: Execute vivado;
Then open a Vivado project and see if this issue/error goes away then or not.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Anatoli
