what does attribute S do?

Jump to solution

Hi,

I am looking at someone else code (who has left the company) and they have applied attribute S to a signal. What does this mean?

I have tried searching for it and can't find anything. It's not in synthesis PG so I am guessing it's not synthesis related, but as I don't know what it  is I'm not sure where to post...

Whilst I am asking, is there a list somewhere of all the RTL attributes that are supported?

Thanks

@mistercoffee,

S stands for SAVE attribute. It prevents certain optimizations.

Refer page 351 of this link for details: https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx14_7/xst_v6s6.pdf

You can refer page 287 of this link too: https://www.xilinx.com/itp/xilinx10/books/docs/cgd/cgd.pdf

Thanks,
Nupur
