IDELAY, ODELAY, IDELAYCNTRL : CRITICAL WARNING: [Netlist 29-345] The value of SIM_DEVICE on instance ...

Jump to solution

Hi,

in ug974 it is written that same module can be used for both ultrascale and ultrascale plus. but with ultrascale plus (xcvu3p-ffvc1517-1-e) i end up with following critical warning and further error in bit stream generation.

CRITICAL WARNING: [Netlist 29-345] The value of SIM_DEVICE on instance '..../ODELAYE3_lsb' of type 'ODELAYE3' is 'ULTRASCALE'; it is being changed to match the current FPGA architecture, 'ULTRASCALE_PLUS'. For functional simulation to match hardware behavior, the value of SIM_DEVICE should be changed in the source netlist. Failure to set the SIM_DEVICE appropriately will prevent bitstream generation for this design.

CRITICAL WARNING: [Netlist 29-345] The value of SIM_DEVICE on instance '..../I_IDELAYE3_lsb' of type 'IDELAYE3' is 'ULTRASCALE'; it is being changed to match the current FPGA architecture, 'ULTRASCALE_PLUS'. For functional simulation to match hardware behavior, the value of SIM_DEVICE should be changed in the source netlist. Failure to set the SIM_DEVICE appropriately will prevent bitstream generation for this design.

CRITICAL WARNING: [Netlist 29-345] The value of SIM_DEVICE on instance '../G_idelayctrl.G_idelayctrl_v8.I_idelayctrl_8' of type 'IDELAYCTRL' is '7SERIES'; it is being changed to match the current FPGA architecture, 'ULTRASCALE'. For functional simulation to match hardware behavior, the value of SIM_DEVICE should be changed in the source netlist. Failure to set the SIM_DEVICE appropriately will prevent bitstream generation for this design.

in ultrscale architecture (xcvu440) it has no issue. Furthermore I saw in ug953 IDELAYCTRL module is same for 7-series.

how to fix this for ultrascale plus?

Hi @fpgalearner

Though the IDELAYCTRL ports and description are same in 7 series and US/US+ , when you instatiated IDELAYCTRL in design targetted for Ultrascale or Ultrascale+ , the SIM device must be set to "ULTRASCALE".

For IDELAYE3 and ODELAYE3  Primitive , Allowed SIM_DEVICE values are "ULTRASCALE", "ULTRASCALE _PLUS", "ULTRASCALE _PLUS_ES1", "ULTRASCALE_PLUS _ES2"  and should be set according to device settings.
