Confused on which VTC driver to use?

Jump to solution

Hello Xilinx Forums,

I am trying to implement the master timing mode for the axis-2-vid IP. Where I have the VTC inline with a framebuffer read instead of the VDMA. I also have a mixer to stream out in place of the video processing block. Which vtc driver should I use to make this configuration?

From xilinx linux 2019.1:

1. linux-xlnx/drivers/gpu/drm/xlnx/xlnx_vtc.c

Compatible string: "xlnx,bridge-v-tc-6.1"

2. linux-xlnx/drivers/gpu/drm/xilinx/xilinx_vtc.c

Compatible string: "xlnx,v-tc-5.01.a"

Thank you.

Hello @florentw ,

I was able to get the VTC driver to work using the DRM_XILINX driver with this VDMA stand alone configuration.

Thank you.

Also, What is Xilinx's definition of "bridge"?

Thank you.

Hi @jchewpoc

I am not sure the VTC drivers can work in "standalone". The VTC is usually used inside another IP (HDMI, SDI...) or in addition of another IP (TPG). So I am not sure your use case is supported by the driver directly
