I am trying to implement an IIR filter in VHDL.
I have managed to generate the HDL code through SIMULINK FDA tool.
Now, this code has got a data type 'Real' and It gives an error message in Xillinx.
Does anyone know if 'Real' is supported data type in VHDL (for synthesis as well)?
I have decided to deal with fixed point numbers but still i need to represent the real numbers.
As, I need the Real numbers for my filter coefficients of the filter, any suggestions how to represent such numbers?
And it can be a signed number as well like -2.3, 32.465 2.01E-5 etc.
And these numbers can be taken as input from the user in the test bench as well.
Any other suggestions regarding the IIR filter are welcome as well.
