DisplayPort 1.2 Rx Subsystem: Question about constraints...

Jump to solution

Dear colleagues,

I have just created the example design for the Displayport 1.2 Rx Subsystem with Vivado 2019.1. The target hardware platform is the KC705 eval board. When I open the constraints file top_kc705.xdc, I can see the following two create_clock constraints, which are comment out:

:
#create_clock -period 3.703 -name mgtrefclk1_pad_p_in [get_ports mgtrefclk1_pad_p_in
:
#create_clock -period 7.407 -name mgtrefclk0_pad_p_in [get_ports mgtrefclk0_pad_p_in]
:

Question:
Why are they comment out for the mgtref clocks?
Aren't they needed?

I have also another vivado project with a HDMI 2.0 Rx Subsystem, and there I have to use the create_clock constraints for the mgtref clocks, otherwise the desgin can sometimes not be compiled without timing errors...

Kind regards

Steffen

Hi @stgateizo

These constraints are not needed. The constraints are generated from the Video PHY.

If you see any report saying that the clocks for displayport are not correctly constrained, let me know.
