VCU pl-ddr ddr4 controller supported memory parts on zcu104

Jump to solution

VCU pg252 doc(v1.2) states that the following sodimm memory parts are supported by vcu ddr4 controller in page 117:

X8 (KVR21SE15S8/4)

X16 (MTA4ATF51264HZ-2G6)

and in page 114 :

"RAM bus width selection- can be x8 (zcu104 evaluation board) or x16 (zcu106 evaluation board)"

based on this info, correct me if I'm wrong, it's only possible to use kingstone KVR21SE15S8/4 model on zcu104.

can this parts be substituted with another memory with the same configuration?

in our current setup we use a 8GB hynix-2133 module(512x16) which has the same configuration as MTA4ATF51264HZ-2G6 . but during boot time it freezes when trying to probe vcu decoder.

thanks for your reply.

seems like any 4GB 1Rx8 2133 CL 15 ram should work on ZCU104.

we are using hynix HMA451S6AFR8N now and it works fine:

Hi @mksafavi

Did you refer the following AR ?

https://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/69403.html

And, did you make sure CL, tRCD and tRP on Hynix's memory module ?

Also, did you make sure number of die on a memory chip ?

I guess some parameters are different between certified Micron's module and your current module.

I suggest you to make sure what I point out.

Best regards,
