ZCU102 HDMI ExDes Vivado 2018.1 on Windows 10

Jump to solution

Trying to build a Xilinx reference design called:

HDMI Framebuffer example design 2018.1

using this folder:

zcu102_hdmi_8b_exdes_2018_1

I am using Vidado 2018.1 on Windows 10.

Using the Tcl script, I got the app to load just fine.

However during Synthesis, I get 12 errors regarding these two verilog IPs:

hdmi_example_zcu102_v_frmbuf_rd_0_0.v

hdmi_example_zcu102_v_frmbuf_wr_0_0.v

Anybody else having this same issue?

Hi @pswan007

As @florentw already mentioned, it is caused by path length limitation issue.

In this case, I suggest to resolve this issue as below.

Plan A)

Change OS from Windows 10 to Linux OS.

Plan B)

As @florentw already mentioned, chang BD name to too short name.

Plan C)

Modify path length limitation by changing the value in the registory.

However this solution is not recommend, if you ware not expert.

Best regards,

Hi @pswan007,

The wiki page clearly mentioned that a Linux OS is required.

HDMI.PNG

Using Windows is not officially supported.

However, this is very likely to be a path length issue. You can in the vivado_hls.log file under .runs/hdmi_example_zcu102_v_frmbuf_rd_0_0_synth_1. It should contain the error message.

You might want to try to build the project in you root directory and to shorten the project and BD name.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for the responses.

I have since switched to a LInux machine and the app does run error free now.

But it is nice to know why it did not work in windows with the possible work-rounds  :)
