4k/60fps Camera

Jump to solution

4k/60p at Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC

Connect with our camera module throgh MIPI Lane.

Question is:

We are wondering we have to develop H/W with MPSoC. ON that board, We have to build up code of ISP?

please advise us.

Hi kmisawa@brycen.co.jp

First of all, I suggest you to refer the following URL (I already mentioned before).

https://xilinx-wiki.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/A/pages/126320678/Zynq+UltraScale+MPSoC+Base+TRD+2019.1

You need to purchase ZCU102 which is Xilinx' evaluation board for Zynq MPSoC  and daughter board for MIPI.

Furthermore, I suggest you to watch some training and tutorial movie in ex. YouTube.

I guess you need to learn how to use Vivado to implement ex. Xilinx's IP and design methodology for timing closure, too.

Perhaps, you might learn VivadoHLS and SDSoC...

Hi kmisawa@brycen.co.jp

First of all, my answer is yes.

BTW, what do you really want to know ?

Also, how do you deal with video streaming data (4K/60Hz) in ZynqMPSoC ?

Store vide stream to file ? Output video stream via HDMI ?

I suggest you to refer the following URL first.

https://xilinx-wiki.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/A/pages/112230447/Zynq+UltraScale+MPSoC+VCU+TRD+2019.1

Re: 4k/60fps Camera

Thanks a lot.
I was just thinking about using Zynq UltraScale + MPSoc.
But I was not sure if this is right or not.
Within this year, we have a plan to develop camera 4K/60fps. But I worried about ISP.
Now, thanks to you, We can proceed a head.
For your question of 'Output video stream via HDMI ?', Display video via HDMI.

Anyway first of all, I will check this document you gave. And then, I might ask you some things

Really Thanks a lot

Q.what do you really want to know ?

First of all, We are looking for the best solution to process RAW data(corresponding to 4K) with 60fps.

As you mentioned here, It is possible to develop this with Zynq UltraScale MpSOC.

final Output is HDMI to see video with Monitor via HDMI or to process image with later application.

Thanks

Is this Evaluation Board?

We try to develop high proccessing and high definite/quality compact size camera.

We need H/W design with this SoC? Right?

@kmisawa , seems to me , you might be after a bit more than we can provide free of charge on the forums

Hi kmisawa@brycen.co.jp

As @drjohnsmith already asked you before, you should reply this question, first.

What you want to do is related with your experience.

> Is this Evaluation Board?

I suggest ZCU102 which is evaluation board to be able to develop what you want to do.

However, I hardly suggest you to how to learn and understand it without your answer.

Yes, you will need to develop a hardware design to use with this SoC. Xilinx provides some free IP cores that will help (eg. the VDMA core), but you will need to do a substantial amount of development yourself. If you don't already have expertise in this area, and you need this done within a year ... start hiring people with expertise in this area.

My experience is mainly firmware, not H/W developing industrial camera system.

Sorry, I don't understand this!

Re: 4k/60fps Camera

I know I will need to do a substantial amount of development .

I don't mean to do this myself. But I just estimate what to do including hiring staff and what kind of thing we have to think.

We will develop software on board using evaluation borad, on the other hand we have to develop processing board originally to sell this as product line up. We don't have proffesional engineer in this area. So now I am collecting information.

Hello

How should you get 4K/60 data into the FPGA?
I don't think that is possible with common MIPI CSI-2 IP:s. You need like 1.8G/lane.
Or which sensor are you going to use?

We're developing an new version of our IP, a 8 lane version. It can hadle that amount of data.

Kind regards,

Or YUV and not RAW-format from the sensor?
Or only 8 color bits?

If you need RAW and 10/12/14 etc bits, I think it is difficult to receive it in the FPGA.

@nija

In 2019.1.1 there will be support for MIPI CSI2 with 2.5Gbps/lanes

We develop camera module with 2Lane MIPI

Get RAW-format from the sensor.

And then recieve in FPGA , convert to YUV***

Thanks for information kindly.

2.5G/1Lane would be enough to receive RAW.

HI kmisawa@brycen.co.jp

I recommend you to contact an authorized distributor for your region. They should be able to guide you for the correct selection.

The things we can say here is that you should be able to do what you want to do with a Xilinx part
