Best Platform for Video processing?

Jump to solution

I have done some projects in HEVC acceleration using Avnet-ZedBoard using SDSoC. But Zedboard cant work at 4K resolutions. It can work at 1080p maximum. In order to improve resolution, without compromising performance, please suggest me some good development platforms. Platforms should be capable of implementing 4K resolutions. SoC platform is an added advantage

Thanks in advance,

Aravind

Maybe the ZC706? Or any of the other Zynq 7045 development boards. The 7045 is a pretty common "big Zynq" (as opposed to the "small Zynq" ZC702, Zedboard, etc). The 7045 uses the faster Kintex fabric (compared to the Artix fabric on the 7020), and it's got far more resources available for parallel-processing, and also high-speed transceivers for getting data in/out.

Or you can go bigger. Zedboard (the company, not the board) does a mini-ITX board with a Zynq 7100 on it; that's the most power you'll get from a SoC until the ZCU102 Zynq Ultrascale+ kit becomes available.

Hi aravindzynq

Can you prepare daughter board to output video signal on ZedBoard ?

If you prepare supported device for HDMI 1.4(@30Hz) or HDMI 2.0(@60Hz) on daughter board, it's easy what you want to do.

As you know, "On-board HDMI output" of ZedBoard doesn't support 4K.

If no, how about the following evaluation board ?

Unfortunately, you need to prepare or buy daughter board to support 4K@30Hz (HDMI/TB-FMCH-HDMI2) or 4K@60Hz (DisplayPort/TB-FMCH-DP3), too...

Thank you.

Best regards,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion

Avnet ITX Boards are good. But I feel Xilinx support and documentation more working and helpful compared to 3rd party vendor. What is your thought about MPSoC boards by xilinx.
