Custom Commands on Aux channel in the Display Port RX subsystem 2.1 for Kintex-7

Jump to solution

Dear all,

Is it possible implementing custom commands on aux channel ? How?
These custom commands are needed to control some display parameters.

If possible I'd like to have the some replies also for DisplayPort 1.4 RXSubsystem v1.0.

Best regards,
Andrea

Hi @andreac_avnet,

I think you should be able to use the vendor specific DPCD register for this purpose.

Hi @andreac_avnet,

What exact commands are you looked to do. Are they coming from a DP compliant source? If yes, could you refer to a section in the DP spec?

Dear @florentw,

Here's the answers.

1) What exact commands are you looked to do?

We'd like to do common display configuration commands (e.g. Color, Geometry, Image and Backlight Adjustment)

2) Are they coming from a DP compliant source? If yes, could you refer to a section in the DP spec?

Yes, a commercial computer video adapter.

Referring to: http://www.vesa.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/ICCE-Presentation-on-VESA-DisplayPort.pdf, pag. 36 :

Display Control

– AUX can be used to control display setting and operation

– Can directly support MCCS using I2C-over-AUX protocol

– Can also support dedicated display control DPCD registers as now used in

Embedded DisplayPort (eDP)

We have seen in your datasheet that MCCS in not supported, but we'd like to know if it is possible to exploit either AUX to provide custom commands ( AUX can be used to control display setting and operation ) or DPCP registers dedicated to this pourpose. Even having some user DPCP registers that can be used in a custom way could be enough.
