How do I implement HDMI(DVI) out in Virtex5LX110?

Hi.

I'd like to implement HDMI interface in Virtex5LX110FFG676. But I can't find any method of HDMI implementation. Even OSERDES2 not included. So I want to listen how do I implement HDMI (DVI) interface in Virtex5LX110.

Thanks in advanced.

Re: How do I implement HDMI(DVI) out in Virtex5LX110?

I would suggest using an HDMI Codec chip such as the ADV7511.

http://www.analog.com/en/products/audio-video/hdmidvi-transmitters/adv7511.html

That's what was used on a bunch of the Xilinx eval boards.

Re: How do I implement HDMI(DVI) out in Virtex5LX110?

@tedbooth Thank you sir,

Now I'm referring https://www.fpga4fun.com/HDMI.html this site for HDMI or DVI transmitting interface test.

But unfortunately I just have only virtex5lx110 board. so I want to implement that with this.

I have more question.

1.

I'm trying to implement HDMI( DVI )interface within Virtex5LX110 up to 1280x720x60 video mode, 74.25Mhz.

But as I know, Virtex5LX110 have no TDMS I/O pad and SERDES such a things. (not sure If I wrong please correct me)

So I want to know

Can I implement "DVI or HDMI" transmitting interface in Virtex5LX110 up to 1280x720x60 video mode, 74.25Mhz.?

As I know, 74.25Mhz means what I need 742.5Mhz.

Re: How do I implement HDMI(DVI) out in Virtex5LX110?

A quick look at the Virtex-5 User Guide, shows that it has some serdes capabilities.  In this case you would want to use the OSERDES.  It appears to be capable of a 10:1 serialization when used in DDR mode.  I'm not sure how fast it can be run.

I have seen XAPPs for newer families that describe serdes implementations for 7:1 LVDS.  You might search Xilinx.com to see if there is anything similar for Virtex-5.  It is not a simple implementation.

Thanks @tedbooth,

As I know not 100% sure, but the FPGA what the SERDES components have involved in is named with "T", apparently you've seen T product. unfortunately my target board Virtex5LX110 not Viretx5LX110T.

Re: How do I implement HDMI(DVI) out in Virtex5LX110?

There are two different types of serializers/deserializers in the Virtex-5 family.  All of the devices have serdes capabilities in their "SelectIO" resources.  The "T" devides additionally have higher performance serdes that can be used for certain applications.

The SelectIO serdes might be sufficient for your application.  Read chapter 8 of the Virtex-5 User Guide (UG190).  A link was provided in a previous post..
